From the Archives Dr John Upledger in London April 2006: Clinical Symposium with John E Upledger DO OMM and Lisa Upledger DC CST-D Bloomsbury Saturday 29 April 2006 10am-5pm
This historic opportunity to see the pioneer of Upledger Craniosacral Therapy at work was open to Craniosacral practitioners, students and anyone else with an interest in Upledger CST and its related manual therapies. Drs John and Lisa Upledger gave demonstration treatments with commentaries, questions and answers on subjects brought by Upledger Institute course participants who had completed CST II. One to look back on in years to come and tell the grandchildren - I was there! Stem Cells listen as Immune Intelligence is engaged - first time in UK CranioSacral Therapy and the Immune Response Perth 23-26 June 2006 When Dr Upledger developed The Brain Speaks, drawing on the work of a succession of independent groups, it was found that different parts of the immune system consistently exhibited characteristic qualities, attitudes and behaviours. Stem cells, for example, seem prepared to adapt to a variety of roles in the interests of the whole person, but need to be listened to and treated as fully intelligent and self-determining. These findings are developed in Dr Upledger’s book Cell Talk (required reading for this course - see educational material) and were further expounded and applied practically in these workshop sessions. Therapeutic Imagery and Dialogue Course (TIDI) goes again in May 2007
Prerequisite for this very enjoyable event was completion of SomatoEmotional Release® I (SER I). It was attended by both experienced practitioners and relative newcomers to the discipline. Some participants found significantly greater comfort in using dialogue to supplement their body work, while others felt they acquired additional tools, or new angles on existing approaches, that provided immediate and sustained extension of their dialogue options once back in their practices. Stan Gerome also offered useful tools for simple, achievable homework designed to enable clients to better maintain the impetus of their process between sessions. As is usually the case with intermediate and advanced Upledger Institute courses, the principle of "walking one's talk" prevailed. Many participants found useful new directions in which to pursue their own inner work, and later reported gratifying breakthroughs with issues that had either remained hidden or stubbornly resisted real progress. Feedback from the 2005 course convinced us that it can greatly benefit practitioners from SER I level onwards, whatever their experience, and we were pleased to be able to present it again in 2007. UK Gets Healing from the Core September 2007 Grounding and Healthy Boundaries with Suzanne Scurlock Durana Perth Scotland 21-24 September
Open to any adult, the course was designed for all who are concerned that the way they interact with other people is clean, healthy and mutually beneficial. Knowing how to become and stay grounded, being clear about our own and other people's boundaries, and being in control of our own energy field are the essential basis for being in practice. But because developing a healthy presence is a good foundation for being healthy and fulfilled in our own lives anyone can benefit. The course material was supported by Suzanne's series of recorded meditations. Her Healing from the Core mini series of audio cassettes is available from UIUK at a price of £30.Return to Bristol 2008 The south-west of England has long been a popular region for health practitioners, and in 2008 the Upledger Institute met demand by arranging a new CranioSacral Therapy course in April in Bristol. Although attendance in Exeter and Plymouth has included a good proportion of local practitioners, others have travelled from London and the Home Counties, the North of England and even Scotland. It was the aim of making the best arrangements for the highest possible number of people that prompted our return to Bristol, which is easily reached from both London and the south-west. UIUK plans course locations that have good road, rail and air links. The choice of venues is equally critical. We look for spacious conference rooms that afford appropriate privacy and security, in hotels or conference centres that either represent good guest value or are convenient for places that do. Although lunches and refreshments are included in course fees, proximity to a good choice of eating out in the evenings is important (all meals for four days from the same kitchen can pall!). Also we research and send out with confirmation letters details of affordable alternative accommodation, as well as negotiating the best B&B rates we can for our participants at the course venues. If you have not yet attended an Upledger UK course and would like to know more about entry requirements, content or organisation, we would always welcome a call or an email. If emailing please mention where you are based and give a phone number. Opportunities to assist in Southern Africa Places to assist are from time to time available for:
