The CranioSacral Society

The Cranio Sacral Society (CSS) is the practitioner organisation for Upledger CranioSacral Therapists.

Specifically, it supports healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds who complete postgraduate training with the Upledger Institute. Additionally, it accredits our training to meet UK national standards and represents qualified members across the profession.

CSS members may offer CranioSacral Therapy as the main focus of their services or integrate it with other modalities. All members commit to the society’s Code of Ethics & Practice, which values empowerment and the body’s self-healing ability.

Over the years, dedicated individuals have built a foundation for voluntary self-regulation of CranioSacral Therapy in the UK. As a result, the Upledger Institute recognises its training as uniquely distinct and deserving of separate regulation from other approaches.

There are four kinds of membership

Qualified, Network, Student & Associate:

Qualified membership is available to practitioners who complete the Upledger training through to Advanced 1, pass the CranioSacral Therapy Techniques Certification and either have a pre-existing entitlement to practise a healthcare modality, or have completed our Training from Scratch programme.
Network membership is available after successful completion of the Upledger workshop CranioSacral Therapy 1 (CST1).
Student membership is for those currently signed up to our Training from Scratch programme.
Associate membership is for those not training but interested in CST in general and in support of the work of the CSS

A qualified member is entitled to be known as a CranioSacral Therapist (CST), with the support of the Society and of the Upledger Institute, and to use the letters MCSS.

In addition, it runs events that support and connect practitioners. It also offers regular Zoom sessions throughout the year. Furthermore, the members’ area on the website is full of useful resources. This includes supportive information for therapists about the world we practise in today.

It offers a discounted insurance package for qualified members. Importantly, support is available if a member ever needs professional help. Additionally, the CSS lists members in the UK’s CST Practitioners Directory.
